Busy week

What a busy week it has been! January, the start of a new year, certainly is a time for people to reassess how things are going and decide to shake things up. I know thats the case for me. I'm going to dip my toes in the business networking pool next week to see if I can meet lots of new people!

This week I have been working on business cards, banners and shop signage. All great refreshes for 2017.

I have also been meeting up with some of my old design buddies. Its so good to be out and about meeting up with people I haven't seen for ages. Its so encouraging to see how well everyone is doing. I will certainly be trying to meet up more in the future.

Lastly, I decided to give my website an overhaul. I think it now suits me much more with a clean, clear design. I think the navigation is easier now. I have always been a designer for print and so it is good to be able to work on web design. It is something I have always thought I would like to get into. We live in such a digital world now that it is very important. However my first and foremost passion is design for print and I know that will never go out of fashion :)

Power of a Logo

"You never get a second chance to make a good first impression' - Will Rogers

This is so true. The chances are that your logo will be the first thing people see before they meet any of your employees or step into your office. Your logo and brand are what peope see first when they look you up online, see a leaflet abut your company or look at your business card. This is their firt impression of you and you want to make sure it counts.

Your logo needs to show you to be a professional, trustworthy business. The colours, the font and the images all paint a picture of you and what you sell. Think about what you want your logo to say about you. This is a great place to start when you decide to have a logo created or any marketing materials designed. Of course, I can hep you with the whole thinking process, or I can do the thinking for you.

Don't get lost, stand out from the crowd with your unique logo. Make a name for yourself and ensure your customers and potential customers remember you. Give me a call or drop me an email if you would like to discuss ideas for your business

Let's get the blogging started

I know I am a little late to join the blogging party but I am excited to give it a go. A good friend of mine recently made me realise just how valuable blogging about your chosen subject can be. Its a great place to keep a record of events, memories and thoughts. It also helps others to get to know you and get into discussions with you about whatever subject you are writing about. I plan to write about my design work, design in general and anything interesting I come across that I feel is worth sharing. I do like to talk so these could be long blogs ;)

I thought the best place to start would be with a little bit about me. I have been working as a Graphic Designer for fifteen years. I have a real passion for design and feel very lucky to be able to work in an industry I enjoy so much. I have worked in all areas of Graphic Design in both print and digital for a huge range of companies from public and private sectors. I particularly enjoy the relationship that can build between myself and a client and I have met many fantastic people through my work. Both clients and colleagues. In a world where social media has such a strong presence it is a great place to be able to keep in touch. Feel free to look me up on LinkedIn where you can learn even more about my work history.

Adam and Ellie

On a more personal level, I am married with two gorgeous little children and a lab collie cross dog. I decided to fit the job that I love into my life in a way that works for us all. Starting up on a freelance basis helps me to work the hours I want around my family. We are very lucky to be surrounded by family who can always help out when things get busy. I love being with my children and discovering the world through their eyes (I really enjoy the excuse to get involved in all the activities, especially the arts and crafts ones). My husband and I have a love for good food, holidaying and as much outdoor lifestyle as possible, We are always on the lookout for our next family holiday destination! Exercise these days mostly consists of lovely long dog walks, every day, no matter what the weather holds. Thats probably enough about me for now I'm sure you will discover more as the blogs continue :)
